Our client is a worldwide shipping and Logistics company with a 50 year history. They are looking for a new company accountant to join their team. Reporting to the directors, the Company Accountant will have a hands on role and be responsible for the full finance function and the supervision of the office accounts clerk who looks after the day to day accounting. Hybrid working is on offer with three days in the London office and two working from home.

Assignment Details

We are looking for an accountant with experience operating QuickBooks and assisting with the following accounting activities:

  • Management accounts
  • Year End
  • Management of loan-related tasks
  • HMRC (payments and reconciliations of PAYE, Corp tax, Deferred duty)
  • Covenant reporting
  • Monitoring P&Ls
  • Reconciliations
  • Journals (intercompany, payroll – including setting up in the bank, petty cash, adjustments)Subsidiary Companies reporting
  • Fixed costs management
  • Payments (for projects, property purchases etc)
  • Supplier invoices & queries
  • Customer invoices, queries, refunds, etc
  • VAT returnsExpenses
  • FX Cards – Allocation and Reconciling with QB
  • Standard banking
  • Debtors & Creditors reporting
  • Bank reconciliations for SJS
  • Accounts email management
  • Overseeing office accounts clerk

Skills Required

  • Qualified / PQ Accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA/AAT) but QBE will be considered with relevant experience
  • Experience working within a financial background in a logistics environment is preferred
  • Good level of IT literacy
  • Quickbooks experience would be an advantage
  • Positive attitude and capable of taking ownership of tasks
  • Analytical and able to challenge existing processes to look for improvements
  • Experience of supervising staff
