Techniche Global are supporting a global defence and nuclear engineering services provider to appoint an experienced Electrical or EC&I Engineer at range of levels up to Lead Engineer. You will be reporting to the project engineering manager, and you will be involved in planning of work activities, estimates and schedules, and reporting of progress.

Rate: £56k-75k
Location: Reading (hybrid- 2 days at the site/ 3 days WFH)
Duration: permanent
Requirements: You must be a sole UK passport holder and be able to undergo SC and DV security clearance checks (5 past years of living and working in the UK)

Responsibilities:

* Perform a variety of engineering assignments in planning and overseeing research, development, design, construction, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of diverse EC&I systems and components.
* Performs a range of design development, analysis, or review tasks independently.
* Assist in design, analyses, or design reviews.
* Generate complete design specifications for complex projects.
* Organize and supervise a group of employees or subcontracted engineers for a given project, contract or job with overall responsibility for cost, schedule, technical and employee performance.
* May train other engineers on technical issues related to the research, design, development, testing and analysis of engineering assignments.
* Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements.
* Develop, maintain and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.
* Direct interface and liaison with internal and external customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.
* Conduct site visits, investigations and analyse engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations.
* Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and procedures.
* Prepare, deliver and submit technical papers and perform engineering studies.
* Support development of technical proposal and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.
* Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Education/ Experience

* Ideally degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or other suitable discipline
* Chartered Engineer or working towards becoming Chartered.
* Experience leading a Design team
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Pro-active problem solver
* Ideally General nuclear building C&I experience.
* Some electrical experience, up to 400V, would be beneficial.
* Experience of safety case justification
* Experience of building regulations and planning submissions
* Experience of CDM regulations
* Area of oversight responsibility:- IT systems, Security access and alarm system, Fire detection system
